The Chipola Indians have built a legacy filled with success and pride. And this month fans have something new to cheer for, a renovated gymnasium worth bragging on. This is the first renovation the MiltonH.JohnsonCenter has taken on in more than 30 years. The renovation cost 1.6 million dollars and it turned out to be a real slam dunk.

The former building was plagued with a leaky ceiling, air system and a warped floor. Now the leaky roof has been replaced with clean white ceiling tiles and bright led lighting. The flooring is fresh and new with whitewash finishes. Another big change that is hard to see, but greatly noticed, is a new air system. Every surface in the facility has been replaced, updated or taken on a fresh coat of paint. The original scope of work originally ran 1.2 million dollars but administrators decided to update office spaces while the gym was vacated for the seven month period. The Indians hosted it’s first game in the gym last week and the future is looking bright. Final renovations and touchups should be completed very soon.
