Siloam Springs marching band to represent Arkansas in Rose Parade

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Siloam Springs High School Band, under the direction of Keith Rutledge, will represent Arkansas and the Midwest Region of the country in the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade today, January 2, in Pasadena, California.

The five-and-a-half-mile parade, known as "the Granddaddy" of all parades, is broadcast worldwide to millions of television viewers in addition to approximately 800,000 spectators along the parade route; and

The SSHS band is only the third from Arkansas to be invited to march in the 123-year history of the parade. The band will also perform at the Tournament of Roses "Bandfest", which features all of the bands from the parade, and on Main Street at Disneyland.

800,000 people are expected at the parade, which is being broadcast nationally.

Governor Mike Beebe has proclaimed January 2nd 'Siloam Springs High School Band Day' in honor of the band being chosen to participate in the Rose Parade.
