Financial Manager/Accountant Position

Sports Floors, Inc. is a woman-owned business committed to providing the Mid-South with the most beautiful, long-lasting athletic flooring available for over 25 years. We are currently seeking a financial manager/accountant.

The responsibilities and objectives include monitoring the company's profitability, liquidity, and solvency while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while making sure that the company has established and maintains an effective set of internal accounting controls.

How you will make an impact:

  • Managing the company’s overall financial position and handling all areas of accounting and company payroll including but not limited to A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets, Banking and General Ledger
    • Keeping accurate tracks of all expenses, liabilities and projected costs by reviewing invoices, issuing vendor payments and new credit applications
    • Maintaining company credit card accounts and balances along with reconciliation monthly
    • Tracking profitability by creating a budget for each part of a construction/flooring projects
    • Working closely with the estimator and purchaser to ensure alignment on costs and expenditure
    • Managing man-hours and the costs of same and making sure all tax and welfare obligations are met
    • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
    • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
    • Oversee cash reconciliations ensuring that adequate cash balances are being maintained. Report monthly cash flow reports and forecasts based on the project schedules to the President
    • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
    • Sales tax reporting, issue all billing, contractor pay apps, lien waivers and all A/R collections
    • Handle daily reconciliation between QuickBooks and Paragon Bank as well as daily cash flow analysis, vendor ACH payments and balance monthly bank statements
    • Process weekly payroll online and issue to employees and handle all payroll issues
    • Maintain all personnel files and payroll records
    • Process monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
    • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly.
  • In conjunction with Auditing firm, issue workpapers, process spreadsheets for tax purposes and work with auditors on annual review for June fiscal year end
  • Annual review of health insurance and maintain files
  • Handle company insurance renewals and contracts as well as maintaining certificates and all files. Manage two annual company audits for GL and Workers Comp
  • Review all contractor license information and renewals to process and maintain company compliance
  • Renew all business tax and licenses as well as personal property and file state annual reports
  • Collaborate with the President in the implementation, testing, and operation of all Financial Systems and Project Management Systems including but not limited to QuickBooks, Guidant Payroll, etc.
  • Manage the financial year-end close procedures of all projects ensuring all major financial and major milestones have been completed per the year-end close calendar established by the President.
  • Develop reporting dashboards to support the day to day needs of the President and VP of Operations.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Accountant with the understanding of pay applications, payment requirements, working with a Schedule of Contracts, etc.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in construction accounting and/or directly related job experience
  • Detailed and have the ability work independently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project and construction accounting
  • Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills
  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required including but not limited to Quick Books, Microsoft Excel, Payroll
  • Systems, Office 365, etc.
  • Top notch analytical, quantitative, and social skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and assignments; high degree of flexibility required
  • Preferred but not required - Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting

 

Language Ability:

Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Strong ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the project team including management, project management, clients, client’s organization, contractors, and vendors.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with clients. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to adapt and learn new techniques and processes under constantly changing demands. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
