Imagine a sports floor that can be put down and picked up as needed, adapting to every event and providing the high-quality playing surface your team needs. Say hello to the world of portable athletic floors! Today, Sports Floors, Inc. is here to tell you about portable floors, from their unique advantages to installation, maintenance, and more.

Portable Floors 101

The portable floor’s major selling feature probably comes as no surprise: allowing multipurpose use of your facility. Unlike traditional fixed floors that you’ll find in most gyms or athletic facilities, portable floors can be installed, dismantled, and stored until they are needed again.

The secret is the system of interlocking sections that allow portable floors to be easily put together or taken apart, making them an ideal choice for multi-use facilities or events that require a temporary sports surface. Although they aren’t permanent structures, portable sports floors provide the same high-quality performance as more traditional athletic flooring options to ensure athletes can play at their best, no matter the flooring type.

Let’s dive deeper to understand how portable floors work, how Sports Floors, Inc. helps you install them, and how you can maintain them to ensure they last for years to come.

Materials

Portable floors are made of several key components that contribute to their durability and performance: interlocking panels, high-quality MFMA maple flooring, and a performance-engineered subfloor.

Interlocking Panels: Portable floors come in storable sections that lock together. When assembled, these panels create a consistent playing surface for players to perform at their highest level.

MFMA Maple Wood Flooring: The quality of this exquisite hardwood begins in the northern forests above the 35th parallel, where shorter growing seasons and longer winters produce a densely-grained maple with rich, consistent color and fewer imperfections. This material provides the ideal surface friction and durability needed to keep the floor performing year after year.

Performance Engineered Subfloor: Underneath the maple flooring is a performance-engineered subfloor that provides the performance characteristics, like shock absorption, ball rebound, and proper deflection needed for today’s top athletes.

Care & Maintenance

When effectively maintained, each Sports Floors, Inc. portable floor system will last for decades! However, understanding how to care for your floor is the key element to ensuring its durability.

Cleaning: During and between games, your sports floor will naturally accumulate dirt, sweat, and dust. Over time, this film can harm the playing surface and subtract years from its life, so regular cleaning is essential to caring for your new floor. Simply mop the floor with a soft, dry mop or use a vacuum cleaner to keep the surface performing.

Inspect for Damage: Between uses, be sure to check for any signs of wear and tear on your sports floor. Individual panels can be replaced if needed, but it’s important to stay on top of this to prevent the need for an entirely new floor.

Store In the Right Environment: Despite their durability, you need to protect your portable floors from excessive moisture and extreme temperatures, which can cause warping or other damage. When not in use, the floor should be stored in a dry, climate-controlled environment to ensure its longevity.
