Last week, the historic Oxford Square was turned into a basketball court for the third annual “Square Jam” event to kick off the Ole Miss basketball season, according to James Hark, director of operations for Ole Miss men’s basketball.

“This is the first time that the fans will see the team live and in person, so it is important for (the fans) to create a bond with that team, and to find out who’s going to be on it, and maybe create a connection with each player individually.”

According to Hark, the events at Square Jam included a three-point contest between the men’s and women’s basketball teams, a “spot shooting” contest, a skills competition, and wrapped all up with a dunk contest.

Hark said he hopes to have “SEC Nation” hosts Tim Tebow and Paul Finebaum judge the dunk competition.

Square Jam was free and open to the public.
